Although no one knows and no one be able to know by now exactly what Samsung’s plans are for its next big product launch event, a Greek tech blog today claims to have learned “all about what’s to come” at this summer’s Unpacked shindig from “very authoritative sources” .
We can 100% trust the information reported by Techmaniacs (and translated here) on Galaxy Z Fold 6, Galaxy Z Flip 6Galaxy Watch X (!), Galaxy ringand the actual timing of the Unpacked event? Not really. But we can’t completely dismiss it or ignore it completely, even though one important nugget seems to clash with the same detail revealed by several different sources in recent months.
Pretty bad news all round
No, ladies and gentlemen, we’re afraid this publication’s sources aren’t too optimistic about two aspects of Samsung’s near-term product announcement plans. We talk about the launch schedule and, more worryingly, the retail prices of the only two next-generation Galaxy foldables that are now widely expected to see the light of day by the end of 2024.
Instead of the previously mentioned July 10th date, this summer’s undoubtedly packed and glamorous Unpacked event is set to take place on July 24th in Paris to be closer to the official opening of the 2024 Olympics in, you guessed it, the same capital. France.
This is the expected Galaxy Z Fold 6 design.
With the Summer Olympics starting on July 26 this year, we’re pretty sure the translation of the latest Techmaniacs report is a bit off, seemingly pointing to a June 24 date for Samsung’s next big Unpacked affair that isn’t making much money. meaning.
As for what we should expect to see revealed on July 24th, this new report specifically rules out the possibility of Samsung bringing Z Fold Slim, Z Flip Slim, Fold FE or Flip FE variants before next year. This leaves us waiting for a largely repetitive “standard” Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 models with… higher prices than their predecessors for some reason.
That’s right, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is said to cost €100 more in Europe (and probably $100 more in the States) than the Z Fold 5 s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor as its only hardware upgrade and a major focus on Galaxy AI features and skills as a key selling point.
The Galaxy Z Flip 6, meanwhile, could also be €100/$100 higher than the Z Flip 5, with the same improved chipset under the hood, the same focus on AI and an improved 50MP primary rear camera. Will this be enough to justify a price increase in a crowded and more competitive market segment than ever? Only time can tell, but for now we’re not extremely bullish on Samsung.
X stands for… Apple Watch Ultra rival
You know, the first premium smartwatch of its kind that everyone seemed to agree to be called Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra or simply Galaxy Watch Ultra? In fact, the publication expects it to be official like the Samsung Galaxy Watch X and offer significantly increased battery life compared to last year’s Galaxy Watch 6 family as well as improved water resistance.
This is the (weird) expected design of the Galaxy Watch X, aka the Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra.
Along with the Galaxy Watch X, Samsung is apparently likely to unveil an “ordinary” Galaxy Watch 7 and a potentially bargain-priced new Galaxy Watch FE at the same Unpacked event as at Galaxy Z Flip 6 and the Z Fold 6 in July.
Last but not least, it is groundbreaking Galaxy ring it’s expected to get a second announcement in a few months with more details on capabilities and availability in Paris, though a European release soon after seems unlikely. That doesn’t completely rule out a (limited) US commercial debut of some sort in August or September, but it’s probably wise to continue to keep our expectations low for this radical new type of Galaxy wearable.
